Amazon.com Review
Give the kitchen table an urban edge with this bold and playful 16-piece tableware set from Livingware by Corelle. An assortment of brightly colored polka dots decorates the set's plates and mugs, jumping out from a stark white backdrop. The dishes not only feature modern artistry, but also modern construction for durability through years of heavy use. With service for four, each setting includes a 10-3/4-inch dinner plate, a 6-3/4-inch bread-and-butter plate, an 18-ounce soup or cereal bowl, and an 11-ounce stoneware mug.

To construct Livingware tableware, Corelle thermally compresses three layers of glass, producing a vitrelle glass composition that is lighter than other dishware, but more durable than conventional glass. The tableware resists cracks and chips with great success, while the lamination compression process combats stains, scratches, and fading. The user-friendly plates and bowls are dishwasher- and microwave- safe and warm food in conventional ovens up to 350 degrees F. The mugs, however, find safe use in the microwave only. For the best care, avoid soaking stoneware mugs for prolonged periods of time. Corelle discourages the use of abrasives or scouring on these pieces. Users benefit from the three-year limited warranty against vitrelle breaks and chips. This set weighs 10.9 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

Love the colors!...
Wanted to replace my old set of Corelle dishes that I have had for 14 years. They still looked ok but wanted something colorful.

Looked through all the patterns available on Amazon and fell in love at first glance with the Hot Dots pattern.

Beautiful and vibrant colors, durable and easy to clean.
I love them!

Please note the mugs are stoneware, a nice weight and size.

Fun dots, add a nice bright touch to my day...
I ordered 2 of these sets. I did not want the mugs but they come standard anyway. I love the bright fun colors, they are just right for every day dining. I like the slightly smaller than average side plates too. For every day dinner I don't use side plates and they come in really handy for serving appetizers etc. The Corelle quality is unbeatable as ever, no scratch marks, does not chip and looks light and elegant. Really perfect!

Fun, Durable, Dinnerware!...
This Corelle Hot Dots set is fun, durable, and stacks oh so nicely in the dishwasher and cabinet! Nice set...recommended.

Amazon.com Review
For a fresh alternative to flowers, fruit, and plain solids, Chocolate Mint dinnerware from the Corelle Livingware collection combines a retro palette with fun patterning. Each piece features a crisp white backdrop, set with borders of celadon, aqua, and chocolate squares drawn with whimsical lines. Trim lines in the same colors rim the bowls for a simple, balancing element. Crafted from durable stoneware, Chocolate Mint is a welcome departure from the common run of everyday dinnerware and can double as a casual entertaining set.

The place to start a Chocolate Mint collection, this set includes four place settings, each with a 10-3/4-inch dinner plate, a 6-3/4-inch bread and butter plate, an 18-ounce soup bowl, and an 11-ounce mug. With 16 pieces in all, the set is safe in the dishwasher, microwave, and oven for maximum convenience. --Emily Bedard

great stuff...
Okay, I decided to write a review about this particular design of Corelle because there was one flaw!!

The ACTUAL color of the designs on the plates are much lighter than pictured here. I thought this was a good mix of masculine and femanine (definitely refreshing compared to all the florals this company usually has) and was totally in love with the darker colors.

However, upon receiving these plates, the colors are really more pastel and "girly". The dark lines are a lighter brown- but look almost black in this picture. Mine also have a few 'mistakes' in the pattern- smudges and things. This could be due to the fact that this is a brand new design and all the kinks haven't been worked out yet.

So, if you get over the color issues these really are fantastic plates. I grew up with Corelle plates and was looking forever for a modern and fresh design. After about 12 years my mother decided to get rid of her/our set because she was sick of them! Not one plate broke. Even after being dropped and banged into things multiple times. So the plates outlived her desire to have them. They never scratch and are so functional and pratical that it is unbelievable. Just find a design you really like because you won't ever have to get rid of these! No chipping, no scarring, and they always look as if you just bought them. Even years and years later. Great for every day use especially in a family full of kids.

In the end I decided to keep the two sets of this design I ordered and it has grown on me. It is a great design, but would be better if the color was bolder as it is in the image here. I love the fact that this set came with mugs...but realize that they are stoneware and not the same material as the plates so they probably won't last as long. I wish they would offer luncheon plates in this design too!

great for everyday use!...
I really liked the design of this set. It has a fun and playful design which is great for everyday use. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because one of the sets, even though the same design was less bright then the rest. The greens and blues just weren't as brightly colored. More like they had some fading. Must be something that happened at the factory because from what I know, the colors will never fade. These were a great price too!

Love this set!...

I ordered 2 sets of these dishes and am very happy with the quality and style! Great price too. They arrived within a week, right before Thanksgiving. Corelle always stands the test of time and I am looking forward to getting tired of these dishes in the future.(so I can get a new set!)

Beautiful but flawed...
My wife and I bought 3 complete sets of this dinnerware plus all the accessories. We really like them except for two problems. As previously stated the dinner plate is oversized and I had to make some modifications to make them fit in our cabinets. Also, they don't fit our dishwasher very well. We end up using the salad plates which are almost as big as a normal dinner plate. My biggest complaint is that these dishes are NOT microwave safe. Three minutes on high and you'd BETTER use a potholder. Don't even think about making a cup of coffee or tea, you'll end up with a blister! If you can deal with these problems as we have, you can set a beautiful table.

pfaltzgraff sedona...
Very attractive dishware, but the dinner plates are too large to fit into a standard dishwasher or into a standard cupboard. I would never have purchased dishes I couldn't place in the dishwasher.

Oversize...
These dishes are very attractive, but note they are oversize or at least bigger than normal. For example, the plates do not fit inside of my cupboard. The cups are nearly twice the size ofa normal coffee cup.

Customer Reviews

Nice set, good value!...
I just received the sets I ordered and am more than pleased. From the picture, I expected them to be a slightly darker shade of beige, but am happy to report the color matches the background color of many other Corelle patterns... not quite white, not quite beige. The solid color is elegant and neutral -- the better to show off culinary delights, or perhaps a beautiful tablecloth or centerpiece.

After half a century of living, the little things mean a lot to me. I appreciate Corelle's durability, reasonable price, ease of cleaning and forgiving properties. It also stacks nicely in a minimum of space, unlike heavy stoneware pieces. If a piece does eventually get broken it's not a big deal.... after all, I've never had a piece break during the first four or five years of use and I'm the Queen of Klutziness. I've found Corelle dinnerware to be very lightweight (a plus for those of us with arthritis) and forgiving (a plus for those of us who are dexterity-challenged) and extremely durable (a real plus during the "hurricane hour" before work and school, or when the kids gather at our house for a snack). I can stack three sets (12 place settings) in a minimum of cabinet space, and it's a breeze to load them in the dishwasher because they are very lightweight. I really like the mugs that come with this set, as they are heavier and the coffee stays hot longer than with some mugs. I have noticed in the past that the Corelle mugs have outlasted every other mug we purchased.

I did consider buying chinaware this time around.... for about a minute. I have seen so many "fine china" (partial) sets over the years -- usually covered with scratches and stains, sporting chips, nicks and flea bites. I suppose someone felt they couldn't throw them away because they were so expensive and "valuable." It amazes me that some people would spend up to several hundred dollars for china dinnerware... in fact, up to several hundered dollars per place setting. Yes, way.

Luxury comes in degrees, and is all relative. To most people in this world, Corelle dinnerware would likely seem quite luxurious, and I feel blessed to be able to afford it, and I'm thankful for the freedom and value it provides me, and the cleanup time it saves me every day, 365 days a year.

Great Mugs & Lovely Dishes...
My husband bought two sets of these the other day and I love them! With kids and ceramic tile, I've been stuck with melamine for more than 10 years. These are simple and classy and have a great mug. The color is beautiful and will go with any tablecloth or silverware I decide to put with it. The color may be the inspiration for new tile on the countertop. I've already bid on and won the serving platter and serving bowls. I'm waiting to see if I win 8 pasta/salad bowls and am considering bidding on a creamer and sugar and a butter dish. Can you tell I'm sold?

Perfect match for my abundance set...
This one is a perfect mix and match for any set that has beige background. Simple but elegant. One thing to know, the mug was a stoneware meaning it is not chip resistant.

pic doesn't do justice ...
I've been looking for breakfast dishes to replace an old stone wear set and found these on open stock. The newer Corelle designs are really nice and a big improvement over what I remember. The "wine berries" lunch plates are prettier than the dinner plates, which seem sort of lopsided design-wise. Even so, this is an attractive pattern and the photo doesn't do it justice at all. The lunch plates are just right for a fried egg & toast or omelette, and the bowls a nice size for cereal. I didn't need mugs so just bought the plates and bowls. The background color and shapes are exactly like Corelle's basic "sandstone" pattern, so it should be easy to add to these over time.
Updated update 6/09: I was noticing a lot of manufacturing defects in this and other Corelle patterns last year. The different colors apparently get stamped on one over the other but weren't always lined up right. Corelle was unavailable for awhile and is now back in stock, so I'm hoping these problems are fixed. In the meantime, I've been adding fruit bowls, bread & butter plates, etc., in Sandstone and all in all, couldn't be happier with these dishes.

A wonderful product...
We live in Hawaii and it is difficult to find selection. I am always thankful that amazon delivers to us! I always use corelle as they do not chip and they are basic in appearance. The wine berries pattern has a splash of color that is just enough. They arrived in perfect condition. We absolutley love them!

Great Everyday Dishes...
Corelle makes a great light-weight set of dishes. They also stack easily so you can get a lot of dishes in a small space. I love the off-white color of this set. I think the bright-white sets look a little cheap - unless they are in the contemporary styles. I hope Corelle makes more sets like this.

beautiful pattern...
We chose this for our wedding china as a compromise between flowery and geometric. It has a bit of both and we thought it was beautiful. It is relatively inexpensive among sets with metal rims, and is holding up well so far (four years). We use it a few times a year, and have washed it both in the dishwasher and by hand.
